JUDGE LUCKEY
KIWANIS ANGEL AWARD 2022
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Angel Award was instituted by the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto to honor a member
of the community who has had a significant positive impact on children and youth; and
WHEREAS, Judge Luckey has served as Managing Artistic Director of Palo Alto Children’s Theatre for over
fourteen years; and
WHEREAS, Judge Luckey has made it his mission to include every child with an interest in theatre in the
Children’s Theatre programs; and
WHEREAS, The Palo Alto Children’s Theatre programs include: a theatre outreach program in to six of the
twelve Palo Alto elementary and middle schools, a movement dance program in all kindergarten to third grade
schools in Palo Alto. A theatre program with adult performers that provide a theater show during the school day
that PACT helps transport over 11,000 school kids from all over the Bay Area to the performance. A Teen Arts
Council started in 2009 to give voice to local teens a place to express themselves; and
WHEREAS, For the children who participate in the Palo Alto Children’s Theater program, Mr. Luckey
becomes a life-changing mentor, fierce advocate, and trusted advisor to the entire family; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Patrick Burt, Mayor of the City of Palo Alto on behalf of the entire City Council do
hereby recognize and congratulate the outstanding work of Judge Luckey, Managing Artistic Director of Palo
Alto’s Children’s Theatre, the 2022 recipient of the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto Angel Award, and commend him
and the organization for their contributions to the community.
