WHEREAS, on June 27, 2022, Khashayar ("Cash") Alaee will be stepping down after serving as President of the Palo Alto Rotary Club during its centennial year; and WHEREAS, during that time, under Khashayar Alaee's exemplary leadership, Palo Alto Rotary distinguished itself and honored our community in a multitude of ways, for example; and WHEREAS, during his tenure, Palo Alto Rotary distributed over $65,000 in grants to worthy community non-profit organizations such as Animal-Assisted Happiness, East Palo Alto Kids, Eden Housing, Foundation for a College Education, Friends of the Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo, Peninsula Bridge, Rebuilding Peninsula Together, St. Anthony's Dining Room, and Vista Center for the Blind; and WHEREAS, during his administration, members of Palo Alto Rotary devoted hours of hands-on service to important Palo Alto and East Palo Alto organizations including Ability Path, Achieve Kids, Life Moves, Magical Bridge Playground, Nuestra Casa, Palo Alto Child Care Corporation, Palo Alto Players, and Project Linus; and WHEREAS, as President, K.hashayar Alaee oversaw the distribution of funds to provide vocational scholarships at local community colleges, and to improve the quality of life of individuals around the world; and WHEREAS, concomitantly with all of the above, Cash, patiently and with forethought, led the Rotary Club of Palo Alto in weathering an international pandemic, serving his members both in live meetings and online; and WHEREAS, due to his superb organizational and people skills, and his adherence to the highest principles of Rotary, the Club, he leaves his club strong and well-positioned for the future; and WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto wishes to honor, Khashayar "Cash" Alaee for his exceptional leadership as Rotary President and for his valued contributions to our Community. NOW, THEREFORE, we, Tom DuBois and Pat Burt, Mayors of the City of Palo Alto during his tenure as Rotary Club President, do hereby recognize the significant accomplishments of Khashayar Alaee and express our personal esteem and appreciation for his outstanding contributions to the City of Palo Alto and the broader community.
