PROCLAMATION
Protect Our Children GUN BUY-BACK
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto joins it’s neighboring cities of East Palo Alto
and Menlo Park in supporting Protect Our Children’s gun buy-back event on
February 23, 2013, and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto Police Department has partnered with the
police departments in East Palo Alto and Menlo Park to jointly run the buy back;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto acknowledges that the voluntary surrender of
firearms potentially reduces the likelihood of gun violence, accidental shootings
and suicides involving firearms promoting a safer community.
NOW THEREFORE, I, H. Gregory Scharff, Mayor of the City of Palo Alto,
along with my colleagues on the City Council, do hereby proclaim our support of
Protect Our Children’s gun buy-back event in East Palo Alto on February 23, 2013.
